Trevor Townsend, South Africa’s Travel Blogger Extraordinaire, was recently launched into a mixture of mediums. Trevor was born when kulula.com approached us to come up with an engaging solution that would showcase their monthly travel deals and leverage social media in an entertaining way. Working across radio, press, a blog, a twitter account and a facebook page, we created Trevor to become an online persona who would both amuse and inform.
Steri Stumpie wanted to harness the power of social media to grow existing consumer loyalty and attract a new portion of the market. We did this by creating a visual Steri World of fun and fantasy, of veliociraptors and zombies and giant Steri Stumpie-loving Octopi, which we brought to life by rewarding consumers who engaged with the brand, either through the Steri Stumpie blog, the Steri Stumpie Facebook fan page or through Twitter. Centred around an ambassador campaign, we sent a marching band to ‘sterinade’ our uber fans, and presented them with Steriphernalia.
KWV Wines approached us to help develop a global social media strategy for a number of their key brands. With many preconceptions out in the market about the KWV brand, we felt it was important to show the real people behind the wine and let them tell the story of their work.
The activity is focused on two behind-the-scenes blogs which look at environmentally friendly wine making, sustainability, the impact of climate change on South Africa, and how great wines are produced both in the fields and the cellar. We’re also running a number of promotions such as The KWV Global Dinner Party which will bring three couples together from around the world for a dinner in the KWV vinyards later this year.
Hair beauty brand, ghd, has been a worldwide success through its combination of highly desirable stylers and edgy fashion marketing. However, with local competitors learning from its marketing tactics, ghd South Africa had to urgently re-fresh its brand to cement its market leadership to style leaders.
The answer was a visually stunning event aimed at immersing guests in a living high-fashion narrative with ‘chapters’ spread across several rooms and the outside areas of a historic building. Blending avant garde hair design, fashion, performance and theatre ghd Revelations created a unique experience which created a massive talking point around the brand.
Social media was integrated by +one into the campaign at every stage, from promotion via a blog style microsite, Facebook, blogger partnerships and creating incentives to create and share photos from the event.
